My name is Tracey, and I am the author of this blog. I’m also a surface pattern designer and illustrator with a hankering for humor and laughter.
Welcome to my first post.
Life is funny.
This life has taken me full circle and changes are aplenty. Like most of us, I have been on a journey, because – let's face it – life's a journey. Now after spending nearly 30 years in California, I have made my way back to Michigan, which is exactly where my story started.
When I was growing up in rural Michigan, I never in a million years would have thought that I would move out of state, let alone out of town. It did happen though.
All because in the year of 1989, two weeks before I was to finally graduate from Michigan State University (5 year plan, ahem), I met the love of my life. His path was already planned – he had a career all lined up with what was then Price Waterhouse in San Francisco California. So I basically hitched my wagon, eventually following him to the west coast.
See, life IS funny.
With my new website up and running, I wanted to add a blog to incorporate a broader spectrum of what exactly it is that I do – from surface pattern design for creative brands and people to illustrating fun creatures, people, places and things. You will also see techniques and inspirations I use to create artwork. I want to invite you to follow along on what I joyfully call “Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride” as I continue building my business.
