Creating with the Peace and Love Fabric Collection
Many months ago, I shared with you about my fabric collection, Peace and Love (P and L). I was able to donate 12 bolts of my custom designed fabric to a charity in Flint. Now, I have listed my fat quarter bundles for sale in my shop.
What inspired this collection?
The P and L collection is very close to my heart. I designed it when I was missing my first born Kenny. He moved many miles away from our then California home. I cried for days and days. The reality that our family of 4 was now to be a family of 3 and would be forever changed, made me feel alone, and honestly on a journey to worthlessness. My journey as a mom (I thought) was coming to an end with my youngest soon to follow my oldest.
P and L is all about the journey of mother and baby (bird). It is a very funny thing actually, because before Kenny was off to college, I was told time and time again that he was supposed to be fouling the nest. This was part of the process of separating from the family. I think he started fouling only 2 weeks before he left. There is a nest design in this collection along with sweet birds and whimsical blenders.
What can you make with the Peace and Love Collection?
As part of showcasing what sewing with a fat quarter bundle of Peace and Love can look like, I created a pattern a few years back. The Peekaboo Pouch (Download the free PDF). The kids are going back to school and this pattern I designed is perfect for carrying smaller sized notebooks and pencils, plus it’s fun to sew.
I have photos here of sewn Peekaboo Pouches in Floral Flurries and Peace and Love. These collections are available in fat quarter bundles in my shop.
You can also make some charming bunting with either of these collections for a late summer party! What a great way to celebrate and surround yourself with whimsical and colorful prints!
